This post is for the Dads who are reading this blog (well… mostly my dad), because I finally got to use a Sunday for what it’s for… Golf!

Secretly, Vietnam is an amazing spot for golf. Though it is extremely hot and humid, its courses are some of the best in the world. Da Lat is especially amazing because not only does it have an incredible golf course, but it doesn't have the heat that other places in Vietnam has. It does, however, have the rain.

My friend Maddie and I went to the Dalat Golf Club this morning to see if the courses are what they're cracked up to be, and we got our answer: absolutely yes. Upon arriving, we knew we were going to have to buy golf shirts (which we weren't mad about, golf swag is the coolest). Once we bought our polos (matching ones of course), we fit the dress code and we went out to the driving range. We thought about playing 9 or 18 holes, but it was a bit difficult to take up the whole day, as we were on a time crunch with both our homestay families and the rain. So we settled for the driving range.

While hitting balls, the members were a bit caught off guard when they saw two young white girls playing golf. Some of them stared, and two of them even came over to us to talk. The course attracts a. very wealthy community, so many of them knew english. One man, who graciously offered his clubs to us because the rentals weren't great, was even from the US, but came to Vietnam to retire. He talked to us the whole time. It was really cool being able to talk to the local Vietnamese people in a natural setting. They were all so nice, one even tried to help me with my swing!

We finished hitting at the perfect time— it started down pouring right as we got back into the clubhouse. We decided to wait out the rain in the restaurant and eat lunch, which was a bit expensive, but I think we were paying for the view of the 18th hole, rather than the food itself. Which was well worth it.

It was really amazing being able to play golf today. Though we only hit balls, it was still so much fun and made me want to play more back home so I am good enough to play in places like Vietnam (you hear that dad????). It was a day off well spent!
